The Michigan Department of Natural Resources provides several license categories: business, fishing, forestry and land, hunting, recreation and camping, and wildlife. Applications for other licenses are available on the DNR website.Continue Reading
Michigan residents and non-residents over the age of 17 can apply for a fishing license online using an approved form of identification and a credit card. A fishing license is not required for anyone under 17. Other licenses that can be purchased directly from the e-license site include snowmobiling, ORV/ATV, and regular and special hunting licenses for different kinds of game.
For business licenses, a Michigan DNR Application for Miscellaneous Licenses is available through the Michigan DNR website to print, download, and mail in with the required fee. Business licenses and permits are required for wholesale dealing in fish or bait, exporting bait, manufacturing fur, buying or processing fur, taxidermy, and running a sport trolling business. Permit applications are also available for cultural or scientific collecting and stocking of public waters.
Downloadable recreation and camping license applications are also available for event permits (including marine special events) and non-event permits, mainly for commercial purposes. Camp Registration Cards can also be downloaded and filled out in advance for anyone wishing to camp in the state forests.
Other available hunting permits include dog training and field dog trials, falconry, game bird hunting and release, deer management, and hunting black bear using dogs. Wildlife permits and certifications include nuisance and damage control for Canada geese and deer.Learn more about Outdoor Adventure
