Krav Maga is a self-defense martial art that combines elements of military training, wrestling, aikido, jujitsu, judo, boxing and gymnastics. Krav Maga was created in Israel for the Israeli Defense Forces by Imi Lichtenfeld and has become a belted martial art for civilians to learn.
The purpose of Krav Maga is to neutralize threats as quickly as possible, and it is based on realistic fighting situations people encounter in military battles or law enforcement scenarios. It teaches how to defend against weapon attacks and how to improvise weapons out of common objects. Krav Maga focuses on defending and striking in one motion to quickly subdue threats rather than treating the techniques as two separate actions.
