The Sportsman's Guide is an Internet retailer specializing in discount fishing gear, hunting gear, camping gear and survival gear. The Sportsman's Guide also sells ammunition and shooting gear, camping supplies and other outdoor sporting goods.
The Sportsman's Guide started in 1970, exclusively selling custom patches for hunting jackets featuring the previous year's trophy success. In 1977, the Sportsman's Guide started mailing a one-page catalog at the beginning of hunting season. By 1992, it was distributing eight catalogs per year, and by 2012 the number of catalogs had risen to 63.
Over time, The Sportsman's Guide has expanded it's catalog by featuring home and garden items, ATV items, optics, and has created three private label brands made up form items created by company team members: Guide Gear, Castlecreek, and HQ Issue.
In 1995, The Sportsman's Guide Buyer's Club Advantage catalog was introduced, in which frequent shoppers would pay an annual fee to receive various discounts and other benefits.
The Sportsman’s Guide expanded shipping to Canada in 2010, and then worldwide (90 countries) in 2011, allowing customers to pay in various currencies.
The Sportsman’s Guide also has two specialty websites: 365OutdoorWear, featuring performance outdoor wear and TruckMonkey, which sells , running boards, step tubes, grille guards, tonneau covers, floor mats, and seat covers.
