Full Answer

Mauney won more than $6 million by competing on the Professional Bull Riders Tour, including more than $1.5 million in 2015 alone. Some of Mauney's past sponsors include Monster Energy Drinks, Kawasaki, Wrangler Jeans, Yeti Coolers and Tyson Foods. Lucchese Boots, Resistol Hats, Cactus Ropes and Total Feeds are others.

After winning the 2015 Professional Bull Riders Tour, Mauney sought medical attention for a shoulder injury sustained during the championship round. Doctors diagnosed Mauney with a sprained left shoulder that took more than six months to heal. Mauney stated that he was unaware of his injury due to the adrenaline rush of competing in and winning the Professional Bull Riders Tour Championship.

Mauney is the second North Carolina resident to win a world bull riding title. Jerome Davis of Archdale was the first to do so in 1995, when he clinched the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association championship.
