EcoCar 3 is also called the Advanced Vehicle Technology Competition, or AVTC. The U.S. Department of Energy and General Motors both sponsor this national design contest for undergraduate and graduate students. EcoCar 3 is a four-year competition, beginning in the Fall of 2014. The Year One winning team is Ohio State University; Ohio State was also the overall winning team in the EcoCar 2 competition, which ended in mid-2014.
