As of October 2014, the record for the highest vertical jump is 64 inches and was made by Kevin Bania who is a CrossFit trainer from Milwaukee, Wis. This jump broke the previous record of 58.27 inches, which was made in 2011 by Jonas Huusom of Denmark.

A few other impressive vertical jumps include a 57-inch jump made by France's Kadour Ziani, a 55-inch jump made by Michael Wilson of Globetrotter fame and a 50-inch jump made by Cuban volleyball player Leonel Marshall. An exceptional vertical jump height is considered 40 inches or higher, and average jump heights are 20 inches for males and 16 inches for females.
