The most points ever recorded in a boy's high school game was 135 by Danny Heater of Burnsville, West Virginia, in a Jan. 26, 1960 game. The highest single-season scoring average was 54.0 by Bobbie Joe Douglas of Marion, Louisiana, in 1979-80.
The 6-foot Heater made 53 of 70 shots attempted in the game, while sinking 29 of 41 free throws and recording 32 rebounds in a 173-43 blowout over Widen.
Douglas' remarkable year included a game high of 93 points en route to more than 4,000 for his high school career. He went on to play at Northeast Louisiana University.
