A golf shaft fitting is one part of an overall clubfitting. A clubfitting, typically done by a professional at a golf shop, takes several things into consideration to provide each individual golfer with the best-suited clubs for their game.
A clubfitting expert examines the golfer's height, weight, strength, club speed and swing characteristics to match the individual with the clubs that fit their style. The length, flex and kickpoint of the shaft are three options determined by a clubfitting. Others are the angle the club lies on the shaft, the lie angle and the grip. Shaft and overall clubfittings are most common with irons, but GolfTips expert Ryan Noll suggests the driver shaft fitting is the most important.
