As of March 2015, golfers get the Golf Channel Academy app from the iTunes app store on Apple.com. The free app gives customers access to more than 600 tips from more than 50 certified PGA and LPGA instructors. One feature of the app includes a swing analysis.
The free app is 32.4 megabytes in size, and the programming is optimized for the iPhone 5. In-app purchases include lessons with certified instructors for $29.99 each. The front page of the app includes featured collections selected by Golf Channel professionals and a browse function that lets users scroll through every tip compiled by Golf Channel.
"Golf Channel Academy" airs every Monday at 7 p.m. ET on Golf Channel. Viewers get a look at golf professionals inside the studio and outside on courses. Golfers cover topics such as putting, driving, swing styles, injuries and getting out of rough places on a course.
The Golf Channel Academy app is one of five mobile apps offered by the network, as of March 2015. The GolfNow app contains a list of more than 6,000 golf courses, including the closest ones based on a smartphone's GPS. The Golf Live Extra app gives viewers livestream coverage of golf tournaments. Golf Channel Mobile lets users check scores from tournaments, follow specific golfers and listen to audio from the channel's morning talk shows.
