Teach kids braking, steering and balance skills for bike riding with games such as Red Light/Green Light, obstacle courses, and balance competitions. Start using games only after teaching children the basics about how to operate bikes.
Playing Red Light/Green light on bicycles gives kids practice stopping, starting and balancing on their bicycles. Cone or cracker obstacle courses are fun ways for kids to practice steering and maneuvering their bikes at slow speeds. The cracker obstacle course offers the added bonus of competing to see who can crush the most crackers. While riding through an obstacle course, kids can also compete to see who can keep their feet off the ground the longest.
