The Bugatti Veyron Super Sport is officially the fastest stock car in the world. The Bugatti recorded a top speed of 269.86 miles per hour. The Veryon Super Sport uses a quad turbocharged W16 engine, which produces 1,200 horsepower.
There is a new competitor for the Veyron, which is the Hennessey Venom GT. This new model has been known to hit speeds of 270.49 miles per hour, besting the Veyron by 0.63 miles per hour. However, the Venom GT is not officially the record holder, because there was only one run at that speed and two runs are required by the Guinness book of World Records. The manufacturer must also build a minimum of thirty cars, and Hennessey has only built twenty nine.
