The world’s most expensive football league is the English premier league. This fact is perhaps due to the fact that the traditional top four clubs have been on a spending spree. These clubs are Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool.
Similarly, Manchester City has emerged to be a force to reckon with. In the transfer window of August 2014, these clubs made record signings for players in the pursuit to strengthen their squads. Chelsea bought Cesc Fàbregas and Diego Costa, among other players. Manchester United bought Ángel Di Maria from Real Madrid over the same period. Arsenal signed Alexis Sánchez from Barcelona and Danny Welbeck from Man U, and Liverpool signed a host of players led by Mario Ballotelli.
