Derek Jeter was born to Dorothy Jeter (nee Connors) who was of German and Irish descent and worked an accountant, and Sanderson Charles Jeter, who is of African-American descent, has a Ph.D. and was a substance abuse counselor. He was born in Pequannock Township, N.J., on June 26, 1974.
Derek Jeter's parents met while they were both stationed in Germany while serving in the United States army. Jeter's father also played baseball as a shortstop for Tennessee's Fisk University.
Derek started his career with the New York Yankees on May 29, 1995. He is a five-time World series champion and is famous for his exploits all around the world.
