What Driver Has Won the Most Consecutive NASCAR Championships?

As of 2014, Jimmie Johnson has won the most consecutive NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Championships with five, winning the titles from 2006 to 2010. Johnson also won the title in 2013, making him a six-time champion. The only drivers to win more titles than Johnson are Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt Sr., who both won seven times.

Besides Johnson, the only other driver to win more that two consecutive titles was Cale Yarborough, who won three straight championships from 1976 to 1978. Several drivers have won back-to-back NASCAR Championships, including Petty, who won consecutive titles two times in his career, and Earnardt, who won consecutive titles three times. Other back-to-back title winners include Buck Baker, Lee Petty, Joe Weatherly, David Pearson, Darrell Waltrip and Jeff Gordon.
