You can find Division I wrestling rankings on NCAA.com. USA Today compiles these rankings, based on votes by members of the National Wrestling Coaches Association.
The rankings also are available on the NWCA website, NWCAonline.com, and on other major wrestling websites such as wrestlingreport.com and teamusa.org. Users can find other rankings on theopenmat.com, d1collegewrestling.net and intermatwrestle.com.
The NWCA/USA Today Division I Team Coaches Poll Committee is made up of one coach from each conference -- Atlantic Coast, Big 12, Big Ten, Colonial Athletic, Mid-American, Pac-12, Southern, Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association and Eastern Wrestling League. A first-place vote is worth 25 points and a 25th-place vote is worth one point.
In 2015, Missouri finished first in the official NWCA rankings, overtaking Iowa for the top spot by winning the EAS Sports Nutrition/NWCA National Duals in Iowa City, Iowa. This was only the second time that Missouri had finished as the No. 1 squad. Ohio State, ranked fifth entering the postseason, ended up winning the NCAA championship. Iowa finished second and Missouri fourth.
Iowa has been a wrestling powerhouse for decades, winning 23 titles since 1975. Penn State had won the past four titles until Ohio State won it all in 2015.
