Wayne Gretzky attended the Ross Sheppard high school in Edmonton, Canada. Gretzky attended high school until the age of 18 but dropped out before completing the twelfth grade. The former NHL player never attended university but received an honorary degree from the University of Alberta on June 5, 2000.

Gretzky's career in the NHL included stints with the Los Angeles Kings, St. Louis Blues and the New York Rangers over a 20 year period. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in November, 1999.
