The U.S. Men's Soccer team participated in the 2014 World Cup hosted in Brazil. In the group stage, the team had a record of one win, one draw and one loss. This qualified them for the elimination stage, where they were defeated by Belgium.
In 1930, the U.S. appeared in the first officially sanctioned World Cup. Since 1990, the U.S. has qualified for every World Cup held. In 1994, the U.S. hosted the tournament and utilized their home field advantage to escape the group stage. As of 2015, the U.S. team has never advanced beyond the knock-out stage of the tournament.
