Michael Jordan studied geography at the University of North Carolina. Jordan's first semester on campus in the fall of 1981 included Basic Writing, Beginning Tennis and Elementary Portuguese.
After leading the Tar Heels to the national title at the conclusion of the 1983-84 season, Jordan was considered one of the top players in the 1984 NBA Draft. He left Chapel Hill with one year of eligibility remaining and was selected by the Chicago Bulls with the third overall pick. Jordan returned to school during the off-season to work towards his degree. In December 1986, he was awarded a Bachelor of Arts in Geography.
