The International Badminton Federation was created in 1934, and by 1936 included 10 countries. Games were played in double and single player competitions.
Badminton officially became a recognized Olympic sport in 1992 in Barcelona. As of 2015, seven different countries, including Russia, China and Korea have won medals in this sport.
