The Copenhagen wheel is a bicycle wheel that has a motor, batteries, sensors, wireless connection capabilities and a control system all built into the small red center of the wheel. This wheel is exclusively licensed to MIT and is produced through that license by Superpedestrian.
The wheel can connect directly to your phone, which allows users to track their usage, the calories burned and even lock or unlock the wheel. The energy storing comes into play when a rider breaks or goes downhill. This allows the wheel to build up energy to help with uphill climbs. This makes it easier for riders to travel further and enables less experienced riders to go long distances more easily.
