Soap box derby cars have a long history dating back to 1933 when Myron Scott first witnessed children racing homemade cars. Mr. Scott was so interested in this activity that he photographed it, copyrighted the image and found corporate financing to make it into a national event. Myron Scott successfully convinced Chevrolet to become a corporate sponsor, and the first All-American Soap Box Derby was held in 1934 in Dayton, Ohio.
