Full Answer

The top 16 drivers qualify for the postseason; the 10-race Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. The first 15 spots are occupied by the drivers with the most wins over the course of the first 26 races, while the final spot is awarded to the points leader after the 26th race if he has not already qualified.

The field decreases to 12, eight and then four drivers after the third, sixth and ninth Chase races, with the winner of the finale deemed the champion.
