The Harlem Globetrotters began entertaining audiences in 1926 as the Savoy Big Five. The Globetrotters have played in more than 20,000 games on the way to becoming one of the world's most recognizable sports franchises.
Through the years, the team has consisted of many big names, but some of the most memorable were Fred "Curly" Neal, Hubert "Geese" Ausbie and Meadowlark Lemon. Neal was known as a shooter and a prolific dribbler for the Globetrotters. He played in around 6,000 games in 97 countries during his career. Lemon was known as the Clown Prince of the team. He played in 7,500 consecutive games over 24 seasons.
Included in the team's all-time roster are nine female Globetrotters. The first female was Lynette Woodard, who started in 1985 and scored 3,649 points in her career.
The team has won more than 15,000 consecutive games dating back to 1971 against its regular foe, the Generals.
