Previous years' rankings are only available through 2013. For information on seasons before 2013, contact the TSSAA directly with your request, by phone at (615) 889-6740 or email at tssaa@tssaa.org. If you are searching for a particular school's ranking, these may also be found directly on individual school websites.

The TSSAA ranks Division I high school football teams into 6 groups, ranging from 1A-6A, with each group spanning 8 regions. Past State Championship results are available on the TSSAA website through the 1997-98 season. Division II results are available online as well. Advanced championship links provide a scoring summary, team statistics, individual statistics, drive chart, defensive statistics, box score and play-by-play.

When the season is active, TSSAA will release rankings to local news sources like wsmv.com, which lists regional standings and includes maps of playoff schools. This website also provides more detailed information about each school's team record. The TSSAA has previously noted that while rankings do play a role in seeding for the championship, other factors, such as limiting team travel time, are also considered.
