The FIFA World Cup is considered to be the biggest sporting event in the world. The World Cup takes place once every four years and takes place in Brazil in 2014.
Prior to the tournament, 32 teams from different countries compete in a final competition in the host country. The winners compete in the final World Cup football tournament. The preliminary competition to be one of the 32 teams in the finals takes place over the previous two years. The host country's team is automatically one of the final 32 teams. The World Cup has been held since 1930, though two tournaments were skipped in 1942 and 1946 because of World War II.
