As of June 2015, tennis player Serena Williams has won nine BET Awards and seven ESPY Awards. Williams has also received three awards from the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation.
Williams received the BET Awards as the television channel's Female Athlete of the Year, which was renamed as Sportswoman of the Year in 2010. She won the award four consecutive years from 2009 to 2012 and has been nominated each year since 2007.
ESPN presented Williams with its ESPY for Best Female Athlete in 2003 and 2013 and Best Female Tennis Player five times. Laureus credited Williams as its Sportswoman of the Year in 2003 and 2010 and Comeback of the Year in 2007.
Williams received a Corel WTA Tour Award in 1998 as the tour's Newcomer of the Year. She also earned four WTA Tour awards, including Doubles Team of the Year, with her sister, Venus, in 2000 and Player of the Year in 2002.
Off the court, Williams won the Teen Choice Award as the Choice Female Athlete in 2004. She was then nominated for the award each year from 2007 to 2014, winning it in 2010, 2012 and 2014.
Williams has 20 Grand Slam singles championships, including six each at the U.S. Open and Australian Open. She has also earned 15 Grand Slam doubles titles, 13 in women's doubles and two in mixed doubles. Williams has won four gold medals in Olympic competition.
