The TVA encourages the use of public lands for recreational activities including hunting, and in 2015 released an interactive map to show the location of recreation areas. A TVA spokesman said the TVA created the map in response to inquiries the authority had received from the public. The TVA also allows activities such as fishing, camping, hiking and mountain biking on public lands.

Hunting is not allowed on dam and power plant reservations, power substations or in recreational areas designated for other activities such as camping.
