All rankings are current as of 2014, the most recent season as of July 2015. Schools are grouped into categories by size, from 7A to 1A, and ranking begins during the pre-season. Although there are no current records documented for Week 1 and Week 2, the school rankings do resume in Week 3, which began on September 20, 2014. Each category includes 10 schools. The Alabama High School Athletic Association ranks the schools by the total votes they received. There is a secondary list recognizing schools that did not make the list, but received votes. Inclusion on these lists is based on voting, and does not always match the win-loss records of the schools. Because of this, schools with losing records may still be ranked highly within their categories. Week 11 concludes the high school football season during the week of November 5, 2014. Each school plays 10 games before the conclusion of the season, and schools that placed very highly in voting at the beginning of the season may drop significantly by the season's end.
