What Is the Skin on Your Knee Called?
Last Updated Apr 2, 2020 11:24:36 PM ET

The skin on the knee does not have a specific name. The skin is made up of three layers: the dermis, epidermis and hypodermis.
The epidermis layer of the skin is the outermost layer. It is the part of the skin that is noticeable to the human eye. It keeps the body protected from moisture and other environmental elements. It also holds the skin color. The dermis is the layer of skin that contains the hair follicles, the connective tissue and the sweat glands throughout the body. The deepest layer, also known as the hypodermis, is made up of fat and connective tissues.
