Full Answer

As a child, Einstein attended a Catholic elementary school in Munich, Germany. From the age of 9 to 15, he was enrolled in the Luitpold Gymnasium in Munich. Although he intended to graduate from the Luitpold Gymnasium, Einstein decided to drop out after his family moved to Switzerland. He attempted the entrance exam for the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, but he did not pass the test. Einstein then studied at a Cantonal high school in Aarau, Switzerland, for one year. In October 1896, he retook his college entrance exam and passed.
