As of June 2014, there have been a total of four probes to visit the planet Saturn. Since the Pioneer 11 spacecraft first visited Saturn in 1979, much has been learned about the ringed planet.
Saturn is the sixth planet from the Sun and is known for its complex system of rings. Spacecraft that have visited the planet and its moon include the Pioneer 11, both Voyager probes and the Cassini probe, which entered orbit around Saturn in 2004. Earlier probes made close flybys on their way to other destinations while the Cassini spacecraft was created for more detailed observation of Saturn and its moons.
