One lakh has five zeros. A lakh is a unit in the numbering system used in India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Indian English, which is the English language in a variety of dialects spoken in India, also utilizes the lakh.

One lakh is equal to 100,000, which also has five zeros, in the English numbering system. In the Indian numbering system, separators, or commas, come in different places than they do in the English system. In India, one lakh is written as 1,00,000. In other countries, the lakh is written as 100,000, as it is in the English system. In the Indian system, a comma is placed after the first three numbers from the right but after every two numbers after that.
