Dolphin Connection states that Atlantic bottlenose dolphins have 80 to 100 teeth. The Dolphin Research Center reports that different types of dolphins have different numbers of teeth, with some having as few as eight and some as many as 250.

Dolphins do not utilize their cone-shaped teeth for chewing; instead, they use them to trap prey prior to swallowing it whole. According to Dolphin Connection, dolphins are not picky eaters. They are opportunistic, feeding on any species of fish that is available to them. Some species of dolphin are known to feed on invertebrates and crustaceans in addition to any available fish.
