There are many compounds found in food, and some natural hormones found in food include zearalenone, phytoestrongens and acrylamide. Some synthetic hormones found in food are rBGH or rBST, which is known as the bovine growth hormone, and zeranol, which is a growth hormone also used for beef, veal and lamb.
Acrylamide is a compound found naturally in starchy food that is cooked at greater than 150 degrees Celsius. This means it occurs when roasting, frying and baking foods. A way to lower the exposure to acrylamide is by lessening the cooking time by blanching potatoes before cooking. A person can also eat a well balanced, nutritious diet with lots of green vegetables and fruits.
