As it gets closer to launch date, an estimated launch time is added to the schedule. Since launches are often governed by the weather or other factors, they may not depart on time.
The best place to view the launch is from the Kennedy Space Center, about 7 miles from the launch pad. A limited number of tickets are available and they include transportation. These are available for sale online. Other prime viewing sites are found along the Indian River, at the U.S. Space Walk of Fame exhibit, Playalinda Beach and from the Cocoa Beach Pier. The Jetty Park Campground at Port Canaveral also has excellent viewing spots right on the beach.
Some hotels have paired up with Cape Canaveral to offer "Let's Do Launch" packages that include hotel stays. As of April, 2015, participating properties include Four Points by Sheraton Cocoa Beach and Doubletree Suites by Hilton at Melbourne Beach. Both properties are on the beach and provide great launch views.Learn more about Space Travel
