The Keystone Pipeline Project was the project to construct the Keystone Pipeline, an operating oil pipeline that runs from Alberta, Canada, to Cushing, Oklahoma. TransCanada Corporation is the owner and operator of the Keystone Pipeline.
The Keystone Pipeline was first proposed in 2005. In 2008, the project gained approval to construct and operate the project, and it was completely operational in 2010. As of June 2015, the project has undergone three construction phases. A fourth expansion, referred to as the Keystone XL Pipeline, is awaiting approval from the U.S. Government. The bill to approve the project was passed by the House and Senate but was vetoed by President Obama in February 2015.
