Jupiter's nickname is the Gas Giant. The planet got its nickname after scientists discovered it is composed of hydrogen and helium.
Jupiter is the largest named planet in the solar system. It also gives off more energy than any other planet. There are over 60 moons surrounding Jupiter. It is nearly 90,000 miles wide at its equator, and it is the fifth planet from the sun. Due to its gas composition, the surface of Jupiter is covered in red, brown, white and yellow clouds. Jupiter spins faster than all other planets, and a day on the planet is only around 10 hours long.
