The main parts of the brain include the cerebrum, the cerebellum and the brain stem. The cerebrum is the largest part of the brain and allows humans to think and control the voluntary muscles in the body. The cerebellum helps humans stay balanced and coordinated while they move. The brain stem extends underneath the brain and is responsible for respiration and regulating body function. Two other parts of the brain, the pituitary gland and hypothalamus control certain types of hormone production and body temperature. There are many other parts of the brain as well, each of which control very specific actions of the human body.
