NASA is credited with inventing the spaceship since more than one person worked and contributed to the design. A spaceship is too complex and too large for any one inventor.
In 1968, NASA began developing the spaceship. They needed a way to help cut the cost of going into space. Everything they had been using up until that point could not be reused over and over again. Even though NASA invented the actual design, the parts were made by private companies, such as Rockwell International. The spaceship failed to solve NASA's budget issue. They had to constantly repair the parts after each launching.
