There is more land in the Northern Hemisphere than in the Southern Hemisphere. According to estimates, close to 40 percent of the Northern Hemisphere is land, while less than 20 percent of the Southern Hemisphere includes landmasses. Also, there are more people found living in areas of the Northern Hemisphere.
The differences between the hemispheres extend beyond a matter of land, as the Northern Hemisphere has an overall harsher climate relative to the lower hemisphere. The seasons also are different between the hemispheres, as winter starts in December in the Northern Hemisphere, whereas winter commences in late June in the Southern Hemisphere.
