Some of the most expensive brand-name purses include the Urban Satchel Louis Vuitton Bag, the Lana Marks Cleopatra Bag, Chanel's "Diamond Forever" Handbag and the Hermes Birkin Bag by Ginza Tanaka. The all-time most expensive bag is the Mouawad 1001 Nights Diamond Purse.
Louis Vuitton's Urban Satchel Bag is made of recycled trash, including water bottles, empty cigarette packs, and wrappers from chewing gum and other items. This conversation piece turns heads and costs $150,000. The Lana Marks Cleopatra Bag is made of alligator hide covered with metallic silver and an 18-karat white gold clasp that is encrusted with 1,500 black and white diamonds. It retails for $250,000.
Chanel's "Diamond Forever" bag is made of creamy white, bleached crocodile leather and has 334 diamonds covering it's trademark logo clasp. Total diamond weight is 365 carats, which raises the price of the bag to $261,000.
Hermes teamed with Japanese designer Ginza Tanaka to create the Birkin Bag, priced at $1.9 million. Adorned with platinum fittings and around 2,000 diamonds, the strap may be removed and worn as a necklace. On the front of the purse is an 8-carat, pear-shaped diamond in an ornate platinum setting that detaches to be used as a brooch.
The 1001 Nights Diamond Purse by Mouawad is made entirely of 18-karat gold and encrusted with 56 pink, 105 yellow and 4,356 white diamonds. The one-of-a-kind bag's $3.8 million price tag made it the most expensive handbag in the world since 2010.
