One of the easiest recipes for making pizza dough in a bread maker includes herbs, garlic, olive oil and white sugar. Flour, warm water and yeast are also required. Add the ingredients into the bread machine, select the dough setting, and start the machine.
To make a pizza crust with a bread machine, put in 1 cup of warm water, 3 tablespoons of olive oil, 3 tablespoons of white sugar, 1 teaspoon of sea salt, 3 cups of all-purpose flour and 1 teaspoon of minced garlic. Add the spices and herbs that you prefer, such as dried oregano, dried basil, black pepper, cilantro or paprika. Add about 1/4 teaspoon of each. Omit the garlic and herbs if you want a plain crust.
Add 2 1/4 teaspoons of active dry yeast to the bread machine. The yeast must be fresh, or the dough may rise unevenly. Select the dough cycle, hit the start button, and wait for the machine to start mixing. The bread maker shuts off after the dough rises, which usually takes about two hours.
Pull the dough from the machine, remove the paddle from the underside, and let the dough sit for 30 minutes. The longer the dough rests, the thicker the pizza crust. Covering the dough with a clean tea towel keeps the heat in longer.
