Some of the most common diseases that are caused by air pollution include asthma and cardiovascular disease. Air pollution is a mixture of man-made and natural substances that bind with the clean air in the atmosphere.
According to the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, studies have shown that long-term exposure to air pollution can have devastating effects on lung development in children. Approximately 25 million people across the globe are affected by asthma alone, and it kills more than 3,000 people every year in the United States. Some examples of air pollution include urban smog, burnt fossil fuels and carbon monoxide.
