Dentists and ear, nose and throat doctors use concave mirrors during examinations to see a larger image of what they are examining. Concave mirrors are also used in solar-powered gadgets and visual bomb detectors.

Concave mirrors are curved mirrors that bulge inward. They are also referred to as converging mirrors, because as the light falls on the mirror, it collects the light and refocuses the parallel incoming rays. Satellite dishes use concave mirrored surfaces to receive and redirect signals. Headlights, flashlights and camera flashes use concave mirrors to focus beams of light.
