A picture of the human body with the location of the pancreas is located at WebMD.com. The pancreas and the duct connecting it to the small intestine are highlighted in green.
The pancreas is approximately 6 inches long and is located behind the stomach. The main portion of the pancreas is on the right side of the abdomen, but the pancreas extends to the left side of the body. The pancreatic duct connects the pancreas to the duodenum, the first section of the small intestine. The pancreas produces insulin, which regulates blood sugar, and malfunctioning insulin production is the main symptom of Type II diabetes.
