Healthline.com contains a map of the inguinal, or groin, lymph nodes. There are about 10 superficial lymph nodes and three to five deep lymph nodes in the groin.
Lymph nodes are part of the body's immune system. They are bean-shaped organs that filter dead viruses and bacteria from the body. There about 500 to 700 lymph nodes in the body, and they range in size from the head of a pin to the size of an olive. A swollen lymph node may indicate an infection in that region. The lymph nodes in the groin may swell from infection in the foot, leg, groin or genitals.
