Buffalo mostly eat different types of grass. They are herbivores, which means that they only consume plant products and never eat other animals. Typically, buffalo feed at night to keep their core temperature up throughout cold nights.
Buffalo are indigenous to many parts of Africa. They live in dense forests and open plains. Buffalo typically stay anywhere that has an abundance of fresh green grass. Without a fresh food source, buffalo populations can die out quickly.
These animals are very large and can weigh up to 1,500 pounds. They are anywhere from 3.3 to 5.4 feet tall at their shoulders. Buffalo are classified as endangered species due to predation from both humans and lions.
