In the majority of bacteria, oxygen is one of the most important components in reproduction. Without oxygen, the bacteria would be unable to produce the energy it needs in order to multiply.
Nutrients or food is an essential requirement for the reproduction of bacteria. Some simple sources of nutrients include: glucose, fructose, nitrogen, phosphorus, magnesium, iron, manganese, potassium, calcium, cobalt and zinc.
Bacteria are often sensitive to temperature. Depending on the species, the range of temperature bacteria can reproduce in is limited, with the average temperature range for the reproduction between 20 and 50 degrees Celsius or 68 and 122 degrees Fahrenheit.

A less important element of reproduction is acidity. Bacteria, like any other living organism, have a specific pH level within their cells. In order to reproduce, bacteria must be in an acidic environment compatible with their own pH level. Bacteria often require water or moisture for the breakdown of the nutrients in order to create the energy needed to multiply. Most bacteria need these elements to reproduce, though it is not required for every bacterium known to man.
