The largest blue whale ever weighed, an adult female, was 389,760 pounds. In contrast, the largest known dinousaur, Argentinosaurus, weighed only about 180,000 pounds.
Adult blue whales can be anywhere from 75 to 100 feet in length. They subsist on a diet of mostly krill, filtered through baleen plates in the whale's mouth; an adult whale can eat about 8,000 pounds of krill a day. Although their mouths are large enough to accommodate 198,000 pounds of water and krill, their throats are only large enough to pass an object the size of an inflated beach ball.Learn more about Zoology
