How Accurate Are 15-Day Weather Forecasts in Sarasota?

In 2013, meteorology students at Penn State University conducted a study of the accuracy of extended weather forecasts for fifteen American cities, reports the Washington Post. The results of the study indicate significant discrepancies between 15-day forecasts and actual temperatures. This would certainly apply to forecasts in Sarasota.

The study found that over a 93 day period the weather forecasting service AccuWeather's 15-day forecast of maximum temperatures was off by zero to 5 degrees roughly 40 percent of the time, 6 to 10 degrees about 27 percent of the time, 11 to 15 degrees around 18 percent of the time, and 16 to 20 degrees approximately 15 percent of the time.
